Terms of service
The terms for using numerela.lk and ordering the personal tax service.
Effective date: 30 October 2026 Last updated: 30 October 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are between you and Numerela ("we", "us"). They apply when you use numerela.lk, place a request or message us. Please read them with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. By paying for a request you agree to these terms. You must be an individual aged 18 or over.
2. What we do
Numerela is an online service for individuals in Sri Lanka. We can help you:
- register for a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and IRD PIN, by telling you what is needed and preparing the details for you to check; and
- prepare and file your income tax return: we work out your computation from the figures and documents you give us, enter it in IRD e-Services as a draft, and submit it on your instruction after you approve it.
Numerela provides assistance only. We help you prepare and file your own return: we work out the figures solely from the information and documents you give us, enter them in IRD e-Services, and submit the return on your instruction, only after you approve it with a one-time code. We are not your tax representative or adviser, we do not sign or certify your return, and we do not give tax planning or legal advice. The return is your own: you remain responsible for its contents, and you decide whether to approve it. Your responsibilities are in section 4, and your indemnity to us is in section 10A.
We do not handle audits, business or company returns, VAT or other taxes, objections, appeals or IRD enquiries under these terms. Business income and capital gains are quoted separately before you agree.
3. How the service works
- You fill in our online request and send us your documents. At the end, you tick a declaration that the information you gave is complete and accurate, including all your income, assets and liabilities, and you tick your consent for us to keep and use your IRD PIN to file.
- You pay the fee shown at the end of the request. We start work only after your payment is confirmed.
- We prepare your computation.
- You give us your IRD PIN by email to hello@numerela.com, or by WhatsApp or SMS to 071 419 2259, as text or as a PDF or image.
- Our filing team (our staff and the software agents they run and supervise) logs in to IRD e-Services (RAMIS) for you, types your TIN and the captcha, enters the return boxes from our computation and saves the return as a draft.
- We send you a summary of every box. You check it and approve it with a one-time code we send you.
- We submit the return and send you the IRD acknowledgement. We recommend you change your PIN in IRD e-Services after filing; it is your choice. If you change it and want us to file again, send us the new one.
Nothing is submitted without your approval code. If you do not approve, or ask for changes, we do not submit. We keep your PIN securely with your client records and use it only to file the returns you ask us to file. If RAMIS rejects it twice we stop and ask you to check it. Our Privacy Policy explains this in section 3.
For TIN registration, if you have no email we first help you set up a free one so the IRD sends your PIN straight to you. Only as a last resort, and only with your ticked written consent, the IRD may send your PIN email to a dedicated Numerela PIN inbox with access limited to named staff. We pass the PIN on to you and, with your consent, keep it with your client records to file your returns. Our Privacy Policy explains this in section 3.
4. What you must do
Giving us full and accurate information is your responsibility.
- Tell us about all your income from every source, in Sri Lanka and abroad, and all your assets and liabilities, and give us complete, accurate and current figures and documents. Full disclosure is your sole responsibility.
- We rely solely on what you give us. We do not audit or verify it, or check it against IRD or bank records. We are not responsible for any income, asset or liability you did not declare to us, or for any figure or document you gave us that was wrong, incomplete or out of date.
- Check every box in the summary we send you before you approve it, and tell us at once if something looks wrong. Your approval code is your instruction to submit. After submission, a change needs an amended return.
- Approve in time for us to submit by the due date, and pay any tax you owe to the IRD by its due date. We do not pay tax for you.
- You remain responsible to the IRD for your return and every figure in it, even though we enter and submit it on your instruction. We do not sign, certify or give any assurance to the IRD about your return.
- Keep a copy of your return, the IRD acknowledgement, and the records and documents behind your return.
- Give us your correct PIN and tell us if you change it. We recommend you change your PIN in IRD e-Services after filing; it is your choice. If you change it and want us to file again, send us the new one.
5. Documents and deadlines
Due dates come from the Inland Revenue Act and IRD notices, not from us. The Act says a return is due not later than eight months after the end of each year of assessment. For the year of assessment 2025/26 that is 30 November 2026. Check the current date with the IRD.
Please complete your request, with all documents, at least 7 working days before the due date. If you send them later, we will try to help but may decline the request, and we do not promise to finish in time. We do not control the IRD portal and do not promise that it will be available when you need it. Please approve your summary promptly. We cannot submit without your approval.
6. Fees and payment
Our prices for the personal income tax return, in Sri Lankan rupees:

You pay in full at the end of the request, before we start any work. At launch, payment is by bank transfer. The account details are shown on the page at the end of the request. Please check that any payment message comes from hello@numerela.com before you pay. Online card payment will be added later. Tax, penalties, interest and any government charge are not part of our fee and are payable by you to the IRD.
7. No guarantee of the IRD outcome
We take care with our work. We do not guarantee that your return will be accepted by the IRD, or that the IRD will not take a different view of the law. If we make an error in our computation, or in entering the return, we will fix it free of charge as our Refund Policy explains.
8. Our tools
Your computation is worked out by written tax rules and checked by our desk. Tools and people can still make mistakes, which is why you must check every box in the summary before you approve it.
9. Your data
You keep ownership of your documents and information. We use them only to provide the service and as our Privacy Policy says.
10. Limits on our responsibility
To the extent Sri Lankan law allows:
- Our total responsibility to you for all claims about a request is limited to the fee you paid for that request.
- We are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit or opportunity.
- We are not responsible for tax, penalties or interest that arise because figures or documents you gave us were late, incomplete or wrong, because you did not approve the summary in time, or because you approved a summary that contained a figure you gave us that was wrong.
- If a figure we entered differs from the summary you approved, we will help you correct it with an amended return at no charge. Our responsibility stays limited to the fee you paid.
- We are not responsible for loss or misuse of your PIN while it travels by email, WhatsApp, SMS or another channel you chose, or after you shared it with anyone else.
- We are not responsible for IRD portal downtime, the IRD's decisions, or changes in the law after we deliver our work.
- Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility or right that the law does not allow to be limited, including your rights under the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, No. 9 of 2003.
10A. Your indemnity to us
If the IRD or anyone else makes a claim against Numerela, its staff or its service providers because information you gave us was incomplete, inaccurate or undeclared, or because you approved late or paid late, you agree to cover the resulting losses. These include IRD assessments, tax, penalties and interest charged to you or claimed from us, other claims and losses, and reasonable legal costs. This does not apply to the extent the loss was caused by our own proven negligence or error. For our own error, our responsibility stays as set out in section 10, limited to the fee you paid.
11. Our website and tools
Our website, tools and templates belong to us. You may use the computation and return summary we prepare for your own tax affairs. You may not copy or resell our tools.
12. Cancelling and stopping
You can cancel at any time before you approve your return summary. Refunds are explained in our Refund Policy. We may stop work, and refund as the Refund Policy says, if you do not give the information we need, if we think information is false, if the request is outside our service, or if the law stops us from helping.
13. Complaints
Email hello@numerela.com with your name, your mobile number and what went wrong. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and send a full reply within 14 days. For data protection complaints, see section 12 of our Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The version in force when you paid applies to that request. A new version applies to new requests.
15. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of Sri Lanka. The courts of Colombo have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
16. If part of these terms is not valid
If a part of these terms is not valid, the rest stays in force.
